Tape Counters
Douglas Scientific has adapted off-the-shelf carrier tape counters to process Array Tape™, giving the end user a quick way of counting the number of arrays in a given length of Array Tape™.
A secondary use of the tape counter is for Array Tape™ converting. Examples of Array Tape™ converting are: the end user desires to have the Array Tape™ wound in the opposite direction; the end user desires to have the wells of the Array Tape™ facing in or facing out; the end user desires to have the Array Tape™ wound onto a different style spool. Both sides of the tape counter are capable of holding a ½” or 3” core spool.
Adaptors for Plate Readers
Douglas Scientific offers a variety of adaptors that allow Array Tape™ to be scanned in commercially available plate readers. Doing so, the end user can take advantage of all that Array Tape™ offers while still maintaining a preferred plate reader.
Douglas Scientific also offers a walk away, automated solution of loading Array Tape™ into select plate readers. In this process, a spool of continuous Array Tape™ is indexed into an adaptor mounted on the plate holding arm of the reader. The Array Tape™ is then cut into single array strips to be processed by the reader.
Centrifuges
Douglas Scientific has retro-fitted select models of centrifuges to spin Array Tape™ and force the sample to the bottom of the well. An air knife that blows a steady stream of air through the spool of Array Tape™ aids in the removal of moisture that may have become trapped between layers during water bath PCR.
